God’s Work Our Hands Sunday September 9th!
What is God’s Work Our Hands Sunday you may ask? It is a day of service when we celebrate that we are called by Jesus to serve our neighbor; to be the Body of Christ in the world in both word and action. During the period of time when we are typically worshiping in the sanctuary, we will be worshiping through action in service to others. We join Lutheran congregations across the nation on this same day, working to bring the love of Christ into the world through service.
More information can be found here and below. |

5th Sunday Covered Dish Lunch
Mark your calendars for the last Sunday of September. It’s a 5th Sunday so we will gather in the Fellowship Hall after worship for a covered dish lunch! We will also have fun activities to enjoy together. |
|
Two Activities for God’s Work Our Hands Sunday
We will have three service activities to choose from on Sunday September 9th. Two option will be in the Fellowship Hall, one will be out in the community.
Our indoor service projects will be: assisting with a mailing project for Clean Slate Coalition and writing thank you notes to emergency personnel, (such as fire, police, emergency medical personnel, 911 service) to thank them for their service, especially on nights, weekends and holidays. You may choose either one of these projects, or do some of each!
Our out in the community project is still in the works.
We will begin God’s Work Our Hands Sunday by gathering in the Sanctuary for prayer, a hymn, and Holy Communion. We will end our day of Worshiping Through Service by returning to the Sanctuary at 11:55 for a final hymn and closing prayer.
If you have questions, please see Pastor Rosemary or Peggy Smith. |

Morning Prayer
God of hope, what wonderful love you have given me. Keep me rooted deeply in your love this and every day. Fill my heart and eyes and ears with the truth that I make my home in you. Teach me to love all those I meet as you love. Lead us all in the ways of your Son, Jesus Christ, in whose name I pray, Amen
Prayer During The Day
Goodness and mercy follow me all my days and I live in the house of God forever. God give me the courage to act and speak in your gracious love. Amen |

Please Pray For…
+The natural world around us, God’s good creation of which we are stewards, as we head into Summer, when weather can be unpredictable or volatile.
+Students returning to WCU and SCC and those attending college for the first time. All faculty, staff, and administration.
+Those who are hungry, have no safe home, those who grieve, those who suffer, and especially children who are without responsible care for their well-being and safety.
+Those who feel alienated from God, especially those who have been harmed by people who should have provided safety and care.
+Our full prayer list is available at the church or you may email Dee Dee for a copy. Honoring privacy, we do not send out this list of names in mass email form. |
